Free events are abundant in New York. Please see below for a list of selected free events that are occurring Monday, 9/2/19-Sunday, 9/8/19 in NYC. Please note, times and things may change, so it is best to contact the event organizer for the latest updates. The event organizer can be found in the link in the title. Events may also fill up to capacity.

Pop-ups may occur in multiple dates, and to avoid repetition only a few dates were selected for this post.

Monday, 9/2/19

2019 New York Caribbean Carnival Parade ( 11am-6pm)

What: Dozens of Caribbean countries will represent their nation’s history and culture with music, dance, and colorful costumes as well as Caribbean food vendors along the route! The parade starts on Schenectady Avenue and Eastern Parkway and ends at the Brooklyn Museum.

Central Park Tour: Heart of the Park (2pm-3:30pm)

What: Highlights of this Central Park tour include Conservatory Water, Loeb Boathouse, Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge, Cherry Hill, the Lake, and Strawberry Fields.
Where: Samuel F. B. Morse statue (inside the Park at 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue). Tour ends at 72nd Street and Central Park West.

Fitness Boot Camp! (6:30pm-7:30pm)

What: Ruel Davis returns to Hudson Yards for a new season of boot camp! This event repeats every week on Monday between 5/13/2019 and 9/30/2019.

Tuesday, 9/3/19

Investing In Stocks: The Basics (3:15pm-4:45pm)

What: Introduction for basic investment terms and concepts such as risk and reward, IPO’s, p/e ratios, and relative p/e ratios. Learn how to approach investment decisions and alternative stock investments such as mutual funds and ETF’s.

The Sweat Sessions (6pm-9pm)

What: Join the Meatpacking BID and the Wellth Collective for a fun al fresco fitness series consisting of three free 45-minute classes at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm nearly every Tuesday night, starting May 21 through September 10.

Sunset Meditation (7pm-8pm)

What: Sunset meditation with Mindful Astoria. This is for all experience levels and will include an intro to meditation practices such as mindful breathing and mindful walking, followed by 20-30 minutes of guided meditation. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or blanket/cushion. A limited number of chairs will be available. This event repeats every week on Tuesday between 5/21/2019 and 9/10/2019.

Brooklyn Freelancers Union SPARK: Expert Panel Discussion: Growing your freelance business (6:30pm-8:30pm)

What: Monthly on the first Wednesday of each month the Freelancers Union hosts meetups for freelancers by freelancers. Please bring your expertise, questions, and elevator pitches to the table to workshop and discuss. This workshop’s topic will be about growing your freelance business. The Cutting Room Floor Live! Presented by Recho Omondi and The A/D/O Shop (7:45pm-10pm)

What: Recho Omondi, founder of fashion line OMONDI and creator of The Cutting Room Floor (TCRF) podcast, will interview Ingrid Kwon, Head of Research and Development at KITH. Summer on the Hudson: #TotallyPublicKaraoke (6pm-10pm)

What:  #TotallyPublicKaraoke nights. This is a popular event, so please note that sign-ups are required and close between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. depending on attendance. You may not have a chance to sing. One song per person/group. We alternate young singers with adults in the lineup.
